Artists for Old Growth
March 11th 2010.
"Artists for Old Growth" will be setting up their equipment on the steps of Parliment House (Melbourne) on Thursday 11th March from 8.30am and will be creating artworks that honour our connection to ancient forests.
They will be supporting Environment East Gippsland in their fight against VicForests and the State Government in the Supreme Court. Please join them. You are invited to bring your easel and other art equipment along. It will be quite a visual spectacle.
There will be a powerpoint presentation on Brown Mountain's forests before the event for artists to familiarize themselves with the area and the issues.

Rod Quantock Show in Warrandyte

As any who were at the Rod Quantock comedy fundraiser last Saturday evening would know - it was a roaring success. Liz's talk/powerpoint presentation was brilliant, and Rod Quantock was his usual brilliant, hilarious self. Thanks Rod! We raised about $4000. So from Brown Mountain - thanks to all who helped organise it and came along.

Assistance for Letter Writers

One of our supporters has offered to help people with writing to their local pollies. He will help by telling you who they are and what should be stated and asked etc.
If you would like to write a letter to your local pollie, please contact info@eastgippsland.net.au as a first port of call.

RFA review deadline

That thoroughly discredited 20 year agreement called the Regional Forest Agreement (RFA), is finaly having its promised 5 yearly review on its 14th year of unbridled operation! The deadline for comments is this Sunday.
It's been a woodchippers picnic since it was signed off in 1997 for East Gippsland. If anyone can be bothered, you can read the limited scope of public comments allowed on the DSE website. ***here***
It is interesting to see in the news today about the leaked sham of public consultation on the Windsor Hotel development in Melbourne. What a timely example of the contempt with which the government treats public opinion.
Anyway - EEG will be making a submission.

Daily updates of the highlights of the court case will be coming through for the next two weeks.
We hope to bring you some gems and delights of each day’s proceedings in summary. Quotable quotes, bombshells, comedy and precious moments that can be savoured at home or work.

Jill and the team.
