Dear forest supporters,

Please read this email – it’s very important. We are only two weeks away from one of the environment’s most important court cases. The Supreme Court case starts on Monday 1st March.

Our expert witnesses (biologists) have spent days surveying and preparing their statements, which are beautiful to read. Our legal team is working 12 hours a day, as I am – it’s exhausting but also tremendously exciting.

We now need money – serious money. We have some very large bills ahead of us. Our card sales and generous donors have raised an extraordinary amount, an especially extraordinary amount for a smaller environment group. But we still need about 3 times the amount we’ve so far raised.
If we win, we’ll be making history in the struggle for our native and old growth forests and their wildlife. Details on how you can donate are below.

Please make this your big tax-deductible donation for the year.

And please send this to your networks or friends. If you personally know any philanthropists who may be interested, you can email eeg@eastgippsland.net.au or call Jill on 03 5154 0145. We would be happy to tour them around the forests that are at stake and provide free accommodation for them in the region. We can only win this with mountains of support – please be part of our success story.

Thanks,

Jill

Everyone’s help is urgently needed!
VicForests, a state government logging body, is planning the clearfell destruction of East Gippsland’s Brown Mountain forests. Some trees are more than 600 years old and were mature when Joan of Arc was a girl.
Logging had commenced, and some areas have been destroyed. We’ve successfully obtained a court injunction to halt the logging – a first for Australia!
Glider.
Rare and endangered wildlife, including the Powerful Owl, Sooty Owl, Greater Glider and Long-footed Potoroo, call these forests home.
By law, the Victorian government is required to protect them, but it hasn’t.

So we were forced to sue VicForests to prevent the logging.

If we win, this landmark case might
see a change in how all of Victoria’s forests are managed.
